"Give me 26 lead soldiers and I will conquer the world" - Benjamin Franklin
Franklin knew that the printing press, armed with the 26 letters of the alphabet had more power than the strongest army. The potential power of the written word has always been enormous - from the days of quills and parchment to the printing press and publishing en masse. Perhaps we don't want to conquer the world (just yet!) but one way of promoting dialogue, opening minds to new concepts and positively influencing people, is through such written words.
The ISoc Magazine, Ar-Risaalah serves as such a platform where ideas can be expressed, opinions voiced and where knowledge can be shared and gained. It allows people to utilise their creativity - be it through jazzing up the design of each new magazine or through literary flare.
Ar-Risaalah literally means 'The Message' and seeks to convey the message of Islam to its readers, which can be done through spiritual articles, by exploring the Islamic Sciences, learning about the Footsteps taken by our pious predecessors or simply by discussing how Islam, as a comprehensive religion, relates to all aspects of contemporary life.
