The purpose of the charity sub-committee is to lead campaigns for charity and help people to better understand the importance of charity.  This is a subcom that thrives on everyone getting involved and contributing creative and interesting ideas in an effort to help others.

Current Activity

Last year Charity Com has been at its most active during Lent Term; particularly in response to the crisis in Gaza. To raise funds we held several bucket collections throughout the term, and one particularly successful event, which included the sale of products ‘Made in Palestine’.  We saw widespread involvement from within and outside of the ISoc.

 

Charity Week 2009

Charity Week (CW) is a student-run annual event that aims to raise money for orphans around the world and at the same time unite Muslim student communities on a national scale.CW is in association with Islamic Relief.

Charity Campaigns

Cambridge New Mosque Project :

Muslims in Cambridge are well aware of Cambridge’s current mosque problem – it is too small to accommodate the needs of the Muslim community of Cambridge.  An excellent initiative is underway to build a new mosque, but they are very much in need of our help and funding.  Collectively we can make a big difference to the community of Cambridge!
